Diabetic Foot

People with diabetes are at an increased risk of foot conditions and if they have diabetes-related neuropathy. Diabetes-related neuropathy happens when you experience nerve damage due to persistently high blood sugar (hyperglycemia). It most commonly affects their feet.

Keys to prevent it

This happens due to

  • A Sore or blister goes unnoticed due to numbness

  • The wound gets infected due to weak immune system

  • The wound not heal due to reduced blood flow delayes healing

  • This leads to Gangrene or Necrosis

Treatment is surgical if foot is infected already. Surgical Debridement(Cleaning) with long term dressing and finally Skin graft is management.
